For the first time in the 10 year history of the festival price money will be involved. The Top 3 Paddlers from the filed of 16 invited Paddlesurfers will fight for € 1000 price money in the disciplines long distance and sprint. The race will start in the Neustadt harbour and take the paddlers through the gorgeous old fashion harbour walls along the beautiful Pelzerhaken coastline toward the finish. | 16.000 Visitors at the 7th SURF Festival Fehmarn Big Surf-Party on Fehmarn
The 7th SURF Festival Fehmarn was comming around a lot of offers for all the visitors, testers and pro-surfers. Wind speed from 2 to 5, sun and little wind to rain with gust of wind. The varied weather is also a part of Fehmarn as the varied festival-programm.
But for one person this year was completly different: Bernd Flessner breaks the record of Björn Dunkerbeck in the „Race around Fehmarn“ and is now the fastes surfer who ever surft around Fehmarn.
The pleasure on saturday afternoon was very big. In only 2 hours and 48 minutes Bernd Flessner defeats the racetrack and his two rivals Helge Wilkens and Gunnar Asmussen. Bushed and lucky the celebrates celebrates the men from Norderney with the 4.000 fans on the beach. The „Race around Fehmarn“ was the highlight of the SURF Festival Fehmarn from May 21 to May 24.
„With round about 16.000 visitors in this year the audience was bigger as in the years before“, said head of organisation, Torsten Schulze. „On all four days we gave out 1.000 lendcards, that's a great value“ Schulze along.
The chance to try the latest surf-equipment at the festival for free is another special part of the event. Round about 30 exhibitors were presenting the latest material and show her skills on the water. Also they gave tipps for the offspring and gave interviews.

| Bernd Flessner is the fastest! The record is defeatet. The SURF Festival Fehmarn has found his hero. At the „Race aorund Fehmarn“ the most succesesfull pro-windsurfer Bernd Flessner earns another important achievement in his career. Flessner only needs 2 hours and 48 minutes to surf around Fehmarn. That is 6 minutes faster as the old record from 2007. The old record was set by 35 times world champion Björn Dunkerbeck. Flessner cleary beats his rivals from this year. Gunnar Asmussen from Flensburg and Helge Wilkens from Hannover.
The highlight of the 7th edition of the festival was the „Race around Fehmarn“. Three pro-surfer wanted to beat the old record of 2 hours and 54 minuts, set by Björn Dunkerbeck in 2007. Dunkerbeck was not able to protect his own record because he had to earn points at the slalom-worldcup of the PWA-rankings. Because of bad wind the „Race around Fehmarn“ at first was shifted to friday, at least it was shifted to saturday. On saturday morning at 9.33 the requirements were perfect, with wind speed from 5 to 6.
The outline of Fehmarn ist about 80km long but on the water it means round about 150 up to 180 km to surf for the riders.
Rigth after the start of the race all riders were near together. After two hours the at this time thrid placed Helge Wilkens has to quit the race because of broken-equipment. Bernd Flessner had a good advance to Gunnar Asmussen and he protects it until the finishingline at the beach of Wulfener Hals. 4.000 visitors were cheering at the new record holder Bernd Flessner who reaches the end at 12.21. Gunnar Asmussen reches the end few minutes later on the second place. He needs 2 hours and 53 minutes.
Since seven years the SURF festival Fehmarn activates the surf-community to travel to the eastsea island Fehmarn to the Wulfener Hals for the ascention weekend. The event area is on the Camping- und Ferienpark Wulfener Hals. This holydayparadise is part of the „Leading Campings“ and was rated as on of the top ten camping sites in Germany by the „ADAC Superplatz 2009“. Beside camping with maritime flair and great beaches for surfers there are activities like golf, diving, animationprogramms for the kidsand live-performances in the whole year.
At the SURF Festival you can try the latest surf-equipment for free. Further you have the chance to sign in for some different races and freestyle-matches for everyone and also for pro's are garanting a unique feeling for the 15.000 visitors. The festival is arranged by the biggest windsurf magazinein europe „SURF“.

Besides their camp, which is open for 4 days, there will be a free trial lesson every day from 17 til 18 h. The offer is for people, who haven't had the chance to do windsurfing yet.

| Hock'n'Roll at the beach SALZIG Sporthocker doing tricks with their stools will be at fehmarn again this year. Stephan "SL300" Landschütz, acting "Champion of the World" in Hockern since 2 years, will be there also with the SALZIG Crew.

| Young talents at the Surf-Festival Fehmarn The 19-year old Leon Jamaer will show his proficiency at the Wulfener Hals.
His passion for windsurfing started 9 years ago and by now he is one of the biggest wave talents in Germany.
In the last year he attented at the PWA Worldtour 2008 in Sylt for his first time
Since 2008 he has been also a member of the Fanatic team.
At the surf-Festival Leon will give autographs and of course informative tips about windsurfing.

| Race around Fehmarn – Flessner, Wilkens & Asmussen hunt for the record In 2007 thirty-five times world champion Björn Dunkerbeck circled the island Fehmarn in 2 hours and 54 minutes and set the time below 3 hours. It was “his hardest race of his life” at a wind force of 7 beaufort.
In 2009 he can’t take part of the race around fehmarn, because of his participation at the slalom Wolrdcup/Korea of the PWA Wordtour.
So 3 top racer Bernd Flessner (F2/NeilPryde), Helge Wilkens (Starboard/Gun Sails) and Gunnar Asmussen (F2/North Sails) will circle around the island by the slogan “hunt the record”
“If we get a windforce of 4 or 5 beaufort from the east or northwest – we will have a good chance with our formulaboards” – says Helge Wilkens, who established the record of 3 hours and 2 Minutes in 2006.The first start of the race is set Thursday, 21st may at 12o’clock.
If it is not windy enough, the race will be postponed to Friday.

| Celebrate with the surf-Festival Fehmarn & N-JOY in the partybarn of Mummendorf! We found a new party location on the island of Fehmarn and it seems very promising: We’re going to party all night long! The party barn of Mummendorf is approximately 8km away from the Wulfener Hals.
Sufficient directions will guide you the right way to the party of the year! A field near the barn will provide a 24h parking area and overnight stay for free.
We are also proud to have support from the radio station N-JOY at this year’s event according to the motto “N- JOY the party”. They will accompany us through the party nights.

| The success story goes on...! The enthusiasm of the participants, the exaltation of the trainers, parents and the organisation are the basement for "Volume III" of the Camp in Prasonisi.
For one week up to 40 youngsters will be instructed by coaches of the surf magazin and the world`s best JP/NeilPryde teamriders in Prasonisi.
The philosophy of the project is to offer the exclusive and qualitative highest-class camp for surf youngsters.
The coaches and chief testers Steve Chismar, Manuel Vogel, Jonas Holzhausen as well as Kauli Seadi and Andy „Bubble" Chambers are the gurantors for the quality standarts.
By all surfing youngsters one participance for the camp will be drawn over the JP Shop in your clossness.
Furthermore on the surf-Festival Fehmarn Kauli Seadi and Manuel Vogel will given exclusive interviews and will be available to answer questions about the camp.

| Boards4life e.V. On the surf-Festival Fehmarn the KeikiSurfers would have their own Meeting-Point and will be present an extensive program.
The VDWS-KeikiSurfers-Roadshow offers all kids in small groups a hands-on introduction in the windsurf sport.
First tricks are contained on the curriculum. The advanced learner will be practice by the Keiki-Tricksurfers.
The SuP Girls Team will be presnet how easy it is to do Stand-up-Paddling. The practice on the water should be associated with theory to get the perfect work-out.
Under the slogan "Boardriding Students", interested students could learn the windsurf sport by the KeikiSurfers for 3 event days.
The heads of the KeikiSurfer Julia Burkamp & Sebastian Rönnberger will be leading through the program.

| Kauli Seadi at the surf-Festival Fehmarn The brazillian Kauli Seadi had so much fun last year that he will be visiting us again this year at the SURF Festival Fehmarn. Unfortunately he had to leave early in 2008 because he had an appointment at the DEFI Wind in France.
This Year he kept these days free to visit us the whole 4 days and doesn't miss a single party.
With his awsome and unique wavestyle Kauli could convince the judges to be third World Champion in 2008.
On Fehrman he wants to hook up with his german fans. He will be available at the NeilPryde / JP Stand and also at the surf stand for
autographs and interviews. (From around 11AM and 3PM)

| Stand-up Paddle Board Race This year again, the brands RRD and Starboard invite you to the Stand-up Paddle Board Race. Stand-up Paddling is a new water sports discipline and brings a lot of fun especially on windless days. Paddling while standing on the board is easier than you might think and takes just a few minutes to learn.
Apart from the relaxation effect paddling is also a good full body training – Nordic Walking on the water so to speak.
At the Stand-up Paddle Race different teams will race in a small course competing on the new boards from RRD and Starboard.

| Pro Kids Freestyle Trophy – Qualification to the World Championships Who doesn’t want to show the best moves at a world championship? In 2009 you will get your chance because the Starboard Pro Kids IFCA Freestyle Worlds take place one month after the surf-Festival Fehmarn.
The young Freestyle talents will compete in 4 different age groups (U20/U17/U15/U13). This takes place in Palau/Sardinia from 22. - 27.6.09.
The german semi-finals kicks off at the surf-Festival Fehmarn, officially agreed by the Deutsche Windsurfing-Vereinigung (DWSV).
All Kids who want to prove their tricks will be judged by a prominent jury. The judges will be Normen Günzlein, Klaas Voget probably Wave Worldchampion Kauli Sead. Also Irie Man Brian Talma will be responsible to judge the overall Impression.
After the single elimination of each age groups there will be a Super Session. Here the relative winners compete against each other in a heat.
What else can you expect to find at the surf-Festival Fehmarn – the stand of the new team of the KeikiSurfer! They will offer a fantastic programm (e.g. VDWS-KeikiSurfer-Roadshow).

| Get the chance to win prize money at the Starboard Serenity Matchrace! In the foursome heat (man against man), the two fastest riders make it to the next round of the qualifying system until the four best riders meet again in the finals where they compete for the money.
What’s so amazing about it, is the short race. It won’t take more than 4 minutes. Starboard/Severne supplies the boards and money for the competition.
The lightwind windsurfing board Serenity in combination with the Glide Sail by Severne will be the equipment for 32 riders, at most. First come, first surf! This competition doesn’t cost entry fee, just a small caution for the lycra with a startnumber that has to be worn during the races. The caution will be refundend after the race.
the official Matchrace Tour in Germany starts in 2009. After two races in the South and West of Germany the surf-Festival Fehmarn is the third tourstop.

| Normen Günzlein joins the surf-Festival Fehmarn Normen Günzlein, 2nd place in European championship at EFPT Tour and 9th of the PWA Freestyle ranking list, is now back after his bad accident at the Burger Binnensee last year.
“Actually it`s a need to get the title of the European Championship in 2009 ” said the 22 years old Norman Günzlein, still in the international team of JP-Australia/NeilPryde.
At the surf-Festival Fehmarn, not only on the water he will be showing a great performance, he will also take part in the judgment for the Pro Kids Trophy and surely will have enough time to give everybody an autograph.

| F2 Speedchallenge at the surf-Festival Fehmarn! Who’s not dreaming of a race against the fastest windsurfer in the world? The F2 Speed Challenge will bring this dream closer to you at the surf- Festival Fehmarn. Everybody, who’s been standing on a surfboard, can compete against the clock!
The GPS system of the F2 Speedteam will give you your personal time.
The fastest speedsurfer of the 4 event day will be the owner of a brandnew F2 board! The F2 Missle Board is sponserd by the F2 importer Open Ocean.
The participators could start with their own equipment or with the equipment of all the exhibitors at the event area.

| Klaas Voget at the surf-Festival Fehmarn! For a long time the Pro Windsurfer Klaas Voget from Kiel (sailnumber G-4) competes on the top at the Worldcup.
Since 2006 is provided with sails by NeilPryde. His favorite sail is the NeilPryde Zone because of the easy and straight handling.
By the way he rides with the RS:Slalom at the DWC.
His favorite surf spot is Klitmöller and Hanstolm in Denmark.

Equipment for the competion will be provided! The only thing you need is your own neoprene suit and a trapeze! Enthralling races of slalom combined with a new concept of reagatta! The french board brand attach importable on equality of opportunity and fun. Board and sail will be provided of the producer on site. The board will be the Kona One. The fitting rigg will provided as well.
The men’s competition will be a race on different sails in the following categories: light/middle/ heavy weight. Ladies and adolescent will be assessed separately.

The surf-Festival Fehmarn will include a fun and Beach Rallye with a lot of brainteaser question around windsurfing. Everybody of the exhibitors will help you with words and deeds. The Rallye will be accompanied by the animation – team of the Campingground -Wulfener Hals. Every child, that joins the Beach Rallye will get a little present!
